Entry from: Field, Canada Entry Title: "12K Hike, Switchbacks & Tunnels" Entry: "Today we went on, what turned out to be, a beautiful hike to Johnston Canyon. Now obviously anything that carries the Johnston name will be amazing so we decided to make it a stop in our journey. We were all packed up from our campsite and had our hiking gear on with our CamelBak (backpack filled with water) and thought we were ready to go, but once we got to the start of the trail there was a sign that said that we could also access the Inkpots by this trail... but that was 6km away... one way. So back to the car we went and packed the other backpack with some fruit and snacks as we'd be gone well past lunch. Johnston Canyon is a very long narrow canyon which has been carved out of the rock by the river running through it. There must have been at least 4 waterfalls and many beautiful views. There is a platform attached the side of the canyon when there isn't land to walk on. At the 'Lower Falls' there was a platform that led us across the river and through a cave that brought us right beside the waterfalls! It was obviously a wet place to stand and when we were there the first time there was a little girl who was NOT excited to be there, but we were! Once we were past the falls, the number of hikers decreased ...
